Munich at a Glance

Munich which is locally known as MUNCHEN, taken from the word MONCHE means monks in German language. Munchen mag dich which means Munich likes you is the motto of the city. The city was founded in the year 1158 by the monks of Benedictine. This beautiful city is the capital of Bavaria, a state of Germany which is also third largest city of Germany in terms population as well as area.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Munich is situated on the River ISAR along the edge of northern Alps. If we talk about climate, people of Munich experience continental climate which is mainly due to Alps. December to January is the winter season with snowfall for couple of weeks in the month of January and summers from May to September. Austro-bavarian is the language spoken by the citizens of Munich. Turkish and Balkans are the major communities of the city.

If you are a sports freak, Munich is the place. This city is home of many foot clubs like FC Bayern, hockey clubs, baseball clubs. City has hosted 1972 Olympic and also nominated to host 2018 winter Olympic.
