Introduction – New Orleans

New Orleans is the largest city in the Louisiana state of America. The city is famous for its old French style architecture. It is also famous for its food, culture and music and it is considered as the birth place of jazz music. The city celebrates its annual festival such as Mardi Gras which consist of parties and carnivals. The city is located in the south east of Louisiana State near the Mississippi River.

Tourist Attractions
The city is attraction for tourists from all around the world. There are many exciting places to visit such as the world famous French Quarter which is sometimes known as The Vieux Carré. The French Quarter symbolizes the French tradition through their French style buildings and streets. Other attractions include Jackson Square which was build by the French. It consists of a sculpture of a horse with a rider sitting on it and the sculpture is made of iron.

Food to Eat
New Orleans is also famous for its food. The city offers a wide variety of French, Spanish, Italian and African style cuisine. The most famous food of New Orleans is beignet which is locally pronounced as ben-yays. It is a French style square shaped fried pastry and it is served with a special drink made from coffee. Another famous food is Praline which is made from brown sugar, butter and cream. The New Orleans has always remained the center for food of different styles.

Home of Music Festivals
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival which is sometimes called Jazz Fest is the largest musical festival of the city. It comprises of a wide variety of music concerts and night club parties which are specially arranged for the weekends.

Other famous festivals include the New Orleans Literary Festival which is organized in the loving memory of Tennessee Williams. The festival is took place in the French Quarter and it is consider the most important literary festival.
